Technical Knowledge:

Looking at the different design criteria and components of an Automata Toy

We started our learning journey by exploring what an Automata Toy was. We looked at the different components in the toy, thought about where we had seen these and used them before and considered their purpose.

Design:

Looking at the Cam Profiles and designing our mechanism and structure.

We explored what the design criteria was for this toy and how we could use the components to the desired effect for our own toys.

Make:

Create the Automata Toy

We selected the correct tools to create our designs. We considered how to use the different tools safely. We looked at how we could use the different materials to create a strong structure for our Automata Toy.

We used accuracy when measuring and cutting the materials to enable our creation to hold the axle and cam securely.

Evaluate:

Peer evaluations

Our friends and class mates provided evaluations on our products. We looked at how the mechanisms work and whether we could improve our design in any way.
