Science in KS1 and KS2
At Newbold Church School the children in KS1 and KS2 utilise a spiral science. This means they continue to revisit the same themes throughout their journey in the primary school, enabling them to revisit, practise, embed, extend and deepen their learning.
Here is our whole school Science overview for KS1 and KS2.
Our science curriculum uses as much hands-on teaching as possible, our children tell us in our Pupil Voice meetings that this is why they enjoy science so much.
Ollie (Year 5) "I loved it when we tested our parachutes to see if the size affected the air resistance, it helped me to see the air resistance force in practice. "
Phoebe (Year 1) "I really love the times when we have a go at experiments, my favourite was tasting lemons!"
Here is a short PowerPoint to showcase what science looks like across KS1 and KS2.
