Year Four at work 25-26
Drawing: Power prints
Children applied the skill of creating tone in a new medium; showing an awareness of proportion and thinking about the relative size and shape of the objects they draw. They used tone to make an observational line drawing look three dimensional and explored different gradients of pencil.
Painting and mixed media: Light and dark
Children analysed different painting techniques, compared paintings by artists according to elements such as texture or colour and practised creating tints and shades when colour mixing.

Craft and design: Fabric of nature
Immersed in the sights and sounds of the rainforest, children were inspired to create a series of drawings, forming their ideas into a mood board. They discussed how pattern designers work in the creative industries and learnt how to create a repeating pattern.
Year Four at work 24-25
Drawing: Power prints
We have been using tone to make observational line drawings look three dimensional. We created collages to develop a drawing composition and explored how pattern, symmetry and contrast affect the elements within it. Then we applied our understanding of tone to the technique of hatching; using pattern and contrast to create a mixed-media drawing based on our collage compositions, working in groups to create giant prints inspired by our collages and wax-resist drawings.
