Sculpture and 3D: Interactive installation

Children learnt about installation art, including identifying and comparing art installations, exploring space and scale in 3D art, problem-solving in construction, planning installations to communicate ideas, and applying knowledge to develop and present installation art pieces effectively.

Drawing: I need space

Children developed skills in evaluating images and creating art through various drawing processes, including collagraph printmaking. They developed their independent artistic skills and their ability to generate, test, and refine ideas in their sketchbooks, leading to a final piece of artwork.

Painting and mixed media: Portraits

Children developed skills in creating interesting portrait drawings using words, experimenting with materials and techniques, and constructing self-portraits that represent aspects of themselves. This unit enhanced their understanding and application of art vocabularly and encouraged thoughtful decisions in their artwork.

Painting and mixed media - Portraits

We have been developing our skills in creating interesting self-portrait drawings using words, experimenting with materials and techniques, and constructing self-portraits that represent aspects of ourselves.

We first started by sketching a continuous line drawing of ourselves using mirrors before then placing a piece of tracing paper on top and going over the lines with words that represent us as individuals. We then created our own watercolour backgrounds before combining both elements to create our own mixed media self-portraits.
